I thought I saw a thread on how to relocate the front camera so it's higher on the grill and can view over aftermarket bumpers. I figure if I can move it from the bottom to the top of the grill, it would at least be functional.

Apr 26, at AM 2. I'm interested in doing this as well. No truck yet but I want to be prepared for when I get it! Apr 27, at PM 3. Posts: Likes Received: Joined: Dec 20, ADD posted a picture of the mod. May have been in the aftermarket bumpers thread in the exterior forum, i dont remember where.
I dont like that it leaves a hole where the old cam location was. I think the owner was planning on ordering another non cam grille so that he could do the mod again and not have that hole there. So there is one added expense if you dont like the looks of the empty hole. I have a hard time believing that the side views would line up with the front cam view, but until I see that particular picture, its hard to say for sure. Addictive Desert Designs likes this. If someone digs up the PN for the non-camera grill, please share. I've only found the 1 grill with camera hole so far Apr 27, at PM 5.You must log in to post a comment. Can you install an OEM front camera and have it go through the radio like the rear one does? I think it would be very helpful for parking situations when it's a very tight fit. So it would be nice if could pull in forward and use the front camera to see how close I am to the wall. Messages Reaction score Points I am sure it "can be done" but that does not make it a simple plug and play process, In addition to the camera and wiring, I believe you would have to find a dealer that is willing to update the computer to accept the feed.
A body shop might be a good starting point, as they have the diagrams, knowledge, and ability to order the parts needed. Several members have similar parking clearances. He57mi Member. Three words, string, tennis ball. Phiefer Active Member. I was amazed to find out when i drive in my garage forward, i can activate the rear backup cam and watch the garage door track get cleared, knowing i can close the door and maximize the room in front of my truck. I think the forward cam on mine is part of the 4 cam view. I like using my backup cam for determining my garage entry depth.

If you mounted the plate frame on front of rig it would give you a standalone front camera setup all wireless and not intrusive to vehicles wiring. Just a thought for a solution.
Ford Front/Side Cams
There are some posts in the F group of people adding OEM cameras to their non factory equipped vehicles. How far did I drive my Ford F150 on "0 MILES TO EMPTY" ?? (a LOT farther than you think)
The XLT I think is a little harder due to the missing technology package. I am in the process not of adding the OEM camera to an limited. Mine is however easier due to already having the technology package so all I need to do is change a module and add cameras.
